John Shannon of HockeyCentral on Sportsnet tweets that Stepan signed a six-year, $39 million contract with the Rangers. The two sides avoided arbitration after Stepan had been seeking a $7.25 million contract from the arbitrator. New York countered with $5.2 million, so the two sides essentially met in the middle.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Rangers are 10/1 to win the 2016 Stanley Cup and 9/2 to win the Eastern Conference Finals next season. The Blackhawks remain favored to defend their title at 13/2 odds, while the Rangers and Lightning are co-favorites to win the Eastern Conference at 9/2 odds.
