Panthers down Ducks in OT

Aaron Ekblad scored the game-winner 22 seconds into overtime Thursday night at home to send Florida to a 5-4 victory over Anaheim. Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov drew assists on the goal. The score completed a major comeback as the Panthers (12-5-5) rallied from 4-0 down in the contest. Brett Connolly put Florida on the board to make it a 4-1 game with 1:07 left in the second period off an assist from Frank Vatrano. Connolly scored again 27 seconds later with assists going to Vincent Trocheck and Anton Stralman. Ekblad pulled the hosts within 4-3 with 8:05 left in the third period on assists courtesy of Huberdeau and Barkov. Dominic Toninato evened the score at 4-4 at the 4:23 mark with assists from Ekblad and Mike Hoffman. Sergei Bobrovsky allowed four goals on 32 shots in the winning effort.

Hurricanes have four-game win streak snapped

Carolina fell by a 5-3 score Thursday night at home versus Philadelphia to drop to 13-8-1 on the season. Sebastian Aho gave the Hurricanes a 1-0 advantage 3:23 into the first period on a goal assisted by Teuvo Teravainen and Brett Pesce. Teravainen made it 2-0 a little over a minute later on the power play off assists by Andrei Svechnikov and Ryan Dzingel. The Flyers scored the game's next three goals to take a 3-2 advantage through two periods. Lucas Wallmark tied it up at 3-3 3:24 into the third period off assists from Brock McGinn and Joel Edmundson. Philadelphia scored twice the rest of the way to send Carolina to the defeat. Petr Mrazek allowed four goals on 22 shots in the loss.

NHL Betting Trends

The Panthers are 4-0 in their last four games versus the Eastern Conference. Florida is 5-2 in its last seven games versus the Metropolitan Division.

The Hurricanes are 6-1 in their last seven games versus the Atlantic Division. Carolina is 28-12 in its last 40 home games.

The Panthers had a fantastic comeback two nights ago and will look to build off it here. Carolina can be a little leaky in the back end and Florida has some offensive weapons to take advantage. Carolina was in poor form against Philadelphia and I'm going to take a shot on that continuing here against a solid Panthers squad.
