Flyers down Leafs in shootout
Philadelphia earned a 3-2 victory in a shootout Saturday night at Toronto to improve to 9-5-2 on the season. The Flyers won the shootout by a count of 2-1 as Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier found the back of the net. Philippe Myers gave Philly a 1-0 advantage with 11:52 on the clock in the first period off assists from James van Riemsdyk and Joel Farabee. Oskar Lindblom made it 2-0 with 1:32 remaining in the first on a power play goal assisted by Travis Konecny and Shayne Gostisbehere. The Maple Leafs scored once in the second period and again in the third period to even it at 2-2. Brian Elliott secured the win for the Flyers as he registered 38 saves on 40 shots.
Bruins fall at Red Wings
Boston was doubled up by a score of 4-2 Friday night at Detroit to fall to 11-3-2 on the season. David Krejci gave the Bruins a 1-0 advantage 1:09 into the contest on an assist courtesy of Peter Cehlarik. The Red Wings proceeded to score twice the rest of the first period and again early in the second period to grab a 3-1 advantage. Torey Krug cut it to 3-2 on the power play with 2:08 to play in the second off assists from Krejci and David Pastrnak. Detroit added the clinching goal with 1:28 remaining in the third period. Tuukka Rask allowed three goals on 31 shots in the defeat.
NHL Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Flyers are 4-0 in their last four games versus the Atlantic Division. Philadelphia is 3-9 in its last 12 road games.
Boston
The Bruins are 4-0 in their last four Sunday games. Boston is 12-4 in its last 16 games versus the Eastern Conference.
Prediction:
I might be more inclined to take a shot on the Flyers if they weren’t on a back-to-back with extra overtime skating plus a shootout. But Philly is bound to come in a lttle fatigued, whereas Boston had yesterday off and is a little steamed after losing a game at lowly Detroit two nights ago. I think the Bruins get back on track on their home ice and I’m going to take the puckline to try and get a better return investment.
