Red Wings stomped by Bruins

Detroit was dominated to the tune of 8-2 Saturday at Boston to fall to 0-3-2 on the season. The Red Wings trailed 4-0 through two periods before cutting it to 5-2 in the third, but allowed three more goals over the final 10 minutes. Jonathan Bernier had a rough game in goal as he surrendered eight goals on 39 shots. Dylan Larkin and Filip Hronek each scored a goal in the defeat.

Canadiens down Penguins in shootout

Montreal prevailed 4-3 Saturday in a shootout win at home versus Pittsburgh. Paul Byron and Jonathan Drouin each scored in the shootout for the Canadiens. Tomas Tatar scored two goals in the second period, while Brendan Gallagher also scored a goal in the second. Jeff Petry dished out two assists. Antti Niemi saved 25 of 28 shots and did not allow anything past him in the shootout.

NHL Betting Trends

Detroit

The over is 7-1 in the last eight Red Wings games versus the Atlantic Division. Detroit is 0-5 in the last five meetings.

Montreal

The Canadiens are 0-6 in their last six games following a win. The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings.

Prediction:

The Red Wings are young and appear to be a frontrunner in the Jack Hughes sweepstakes for the upcoming 2019 NHL Draft. But after a blowout loss, expect Detroit to keep it competitive here and manufacture a win. Montreal is a good letdown candidate after the thrilling win over the Penguins two days ago.
