Jets vs. Oilers Prediction
Can the Edmonton Oilers add another loss to the winless Winnipeg Jets when the two teams meet up tonight at 9PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Oilers are favored at home tonight, as they are getting odds of -175 to win, while the Jets are listed with a money line of +155 to prevail. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 5.5 goals. Edmonton won all three meetings with the Jets last season. Tonight’s game will take place from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta.

The Oilers started the season with a 3-0 win at home over the Flames and then followed it up with a 3-2 loss at Vancouver on Saturday. Edmonton is putting up an impressive 40 shots per game right now while holding opponents to just 26. Connor McDavid is off to a good start for Edmonton, scoring three goals in two games. Goalie Cam Talbot has a 2.24 GAA with a .909 save percentage thus far in 80 minutes of action.
The Jets are off to a really bad start, losing 7-2 at home to the Maple Leafs and then 6-3 on the road against the Flames. Winnipeg is averaging 32.5 shots per game while allowing 38 per game. Steve Mason has been in net for 100 minutes and has a 6.56 GAA with a .832 save percentage. The offensive effort is being led by Mark Scheifele, who has two goals.
The Oilers have won four straight and five of their last six against the Jets. Edmonton has been able to dictate play with their puck control and offense and that doesn’t bode well for the Jets, who haven’t been able to show much of a defensive effort. Their goaltending also is in rough shape. I don’t see Winnipeg putting it all together on the road against an Edmonton team that should be one of the better units in the league this season.
