Colorado is 1-1-0 on the season after losing 4-1 Saturday afternoon against the Devils. Carl Soderberg scored the lone goal for the Avs on assists from Tyson Jost and J.T. Compher. Jonathan Bernier made 35 saves in the defeat. As for Boston, it improved to 2-0-0 with a 4-3 home win over the Blue Jackets Thursday night. Jake DeBrusk had a goal and an assist to help lead the Bruins, while David Krejci dished out three assists. Brad Marchand, Charlie McAvoy and David Pastrnak added one goal apiece. Tuukka Rask made 26 saves in the win.
The road team won both meetings last year, with the Bruins winning 2-0 and Colorado prevailing 4-2 on the opponent’s home ice. The total was 1-1 in the two meetings.
Boston is by far the better team here and has started its season out in positive fashion. We see no reason that will let up for at least one more day. Rask is one of the better goaltenders in the NHL and it is difficult to see the Avs solving him especially during another day game. Meanwhile, there shouldn’t be much worry Boston can create scoring chances that turn into goals.
