Stars hold on in Game 5
Dallas secured a 2-1 victory Friday night at St. Louis in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals to take a 3-2 series lead. Jason Spezza opened the scoring 2:42 in off assists from Tyler Seguin and Mattias Janmark. Eric Lindell made it 2-0 at the 13:47 mark of the second period on a goal assisted by Alexander Radulov and John Klingberg. The Blues managed to cut their deficit to 2-1 in the third period, but were unable to find the equalizer. Ben Bishop was stellar in net as he gave up only one goal on 39 shots in the winning effort.
Blues edged at home
St. Louis lost by a score of 2-1 at home Friday night against Dallas in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The Blues trailed 2-0 through two periods, but trimmed it to a one-goal game as Jaden Schwartz scored an unassisted goal with 11:34 remaining in the contest. St. Louis could not find the back of the net again, however, and now face a win-or-go-home situation. The Blues racked up 39 shots in the defeat with Alex Pietrangelo leading the way with six shots. Jordan Binnington suffered the loss between the pipes as he gave up two goals on 27 shots.
NHL Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Blues are 6-1 in their last seven games as an underdog. St. Louis is 3-11 in its last 14 Sunday games.
Dallas
The Stars are 5-2 in their last seven home games. Dallas is 16-37 in its last 53 home games.
Prediction:
While this series does feel like the sort that would go seven games, the Blues have a rookie in goal for a must-win situation today. While Binnington has had a fantastic season, I’d rather take my chances on Bishop and a Stars team that has been solid on their home ice. Dallas proved it could outlast the Blues in a big road game, so why not two in a row to clinch its spot in the Western Conference Finals?
