Andersen strong once again
Toronto goalie Frederik Andersen has gotten hot at the right time, stonewalling the Bruins again in Game 6 as he recorded 32 saves on 33 shots in the 3-1 home victory. Although Andersen had surrendered three goals in the 4-3 victory at Boston in Game 5, he did it while also making 42 saves. Even with a couple porous performances this series including the opener when he was yanked after allowing three goals on five shots, he has turned it around big time and one more stellar performance could get Toronto into the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Home ice could be difference for Bruins
The Maple Leafs stole Game 5 by a count of 4-3 in Boston when many assumed it would be the end of the series as the Bruins still 30-9-5-0 at home after that loss. Toronto is also very strong at home, but only 21-18-3-2 on the road. While Toronto was able to muster enough to win Game 5 on the road and now extend the series to a seventh game, its luck might not out tonight in front of a hostile environment against a Boston squad that still ranks as the better team in this series.
NHL Betting Trends
Toronto
The home team is 6-2 in the last eight meetings. Toronto is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings.
Boston
The over is 10-2-4 in the last 16 Bruins home games. Boston is 6-1 in its last seven Wednesday games.
Prediction:
Toronto has had great success in extending the series the last two games as an underdog and I picked it both times, but I’m not going to go to the cookie jar one too many times. Boston has had an excellent season, is difficult to beat at home and the Maple Leafs’ best years are still in the future. Take the Bruins as they have more experience in these kind of pressure games.
