Tampa Bay is 52-26-8 on the season and 33-9-1 at home while Detroit is 45-26-15 overall and 22-16-5 on the road. Tampa Bay rallied late to get a 3-2 OT win in Game 4, evening the series at 2-2. The home team has won seven of the last 10 meetings between these two, but each team now has a road win in this playoff series. These two have pushed or hit the under in five of their last six meetings.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Tampa Bay is the clear favorite in Game 5, as the Lightning are getting odds of -180 to win, while the Red Wings have been given a money line of +160 to prevail. The over/under total for the game has been set at 5 goals.
The Lightning seemed to be in a dire situation in Game 4, as they trailed 2-0 to the Red Wings and in danger of falling behind 3-1 in the series. Instead, the Lightning scored two goals in the final 5:30 of the third period and then Tyler Johnson scored 2:25 into overtime to give Tampa the 3-2 win. Johnson scored two of the Lightning’s three goals in the win. Gustav Nyquist and Joakim Andersson had the scores for Detroit.
