Capitals rout Hurricanes in Game 5

In the second period, Backstrom added another goal at the 5:39 mark on an assist from Alex Ovechkin. Brett Connolly made it 3-0 with 3:49 to go in the second off assist from Ovechkin and Backstrom. Braden Holtby was stellar in net as he stopped all 30 shots sent his way in the shutout.
Hurricanes struggle in all facets
Carolina was dominated Saturday night at Washington as it fell 6-0 in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. The Capitals scored one goal in the first period, two goals in the second period and three goals in the third period to send the Hurricanes to a 3-2 series deficit. NHL Betting Trends
Washington
The Capitals are 7-2 in their last nine conference quarterfinals games. Washington is 17-8 in its last 25 games overall.
Carolina
The Hurricanes are 2-5 in the last seven home meetings. The favorite is 5-0 in the last seven meetings.
Prediction:
Washington seems to be fully focused after Saturday’s stellar showing and while I don’t think tonight will be nearly as lopsided, the series seems to have tilted enough back in favor of the Capitals to carry them here. Look for Ovechkin to get on the scoreboard and Holtby to be on top of his game again in a Capitals victory to clinch the series. Carolina is still very inexperienced in these kind of big games, whereas with Washington you are talking about the reigning Stanley Cup champions.
