Boston lost by a count of 2-1 Friday night at home against Toronto to fall behind 3-2 in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals series. After a scoreless first two periods, the Maple Leafs got on the board at the 8:27 mark of the third period and added another goal two minutes later. Maple Leafs take series lead

Toronto scored twice in the third period Friday night at Boston and held on from there in a 2-1 victory in Game 5. After a scoreless first two periods, Auston Matthews broke the deadlock with 8:27 remaining in the third period on a goal assisted by Jake Muzzin and Kasperi Kaspanen. Kaspanen made it 2-0 with 6:15 to play on a score assisted by Andreas Johnsson and Morgan Rielly. The Bruins managed to cut their deficit in half in the final minute, but were unable to find the equalizer. Frederik Andersen registered 28 saves on 29 shots to pick up the victory between the pipes.

NHL Betting Trends

The Bruins are 3-8 in their last 11 meetings in Toronto. The road team is 5-12 in the last 17 meetings.

The Maple Leafs are 2-5 in their last seven home games. Toronto is 2-5 in the last seven meetings.

Boston will play with plenty of desperation here and while it has struggled somewhat in Toronto the last couple years, this is a veteran team that should rise to the occasion. I thought this series had a great shot at going seven games at the outset and I'm not going to stray away from that opinion now. Going with the Bruins as a slight underdog.
