Jets double up Jets

Winnipeg got back in the series Sunday night with a 6-3 victory at St. Louis to cut its Eastern Conference quarterfinals series deficit to 2-1. The Jets trailed 1-0 through one period, but bounced back with a big second period to assume control. Kevin Hayes evened up the score 4:57 into the second off assists from Mathieu Perreault and Josh Morrissey. Patrik Laine put Winnipeg up 2-1 less than three minutes later with assists courtesy of Jacob Trouba and Brian Little. A minute later, Kyle Connor scored on the power play to push the advantage to 3-1. Assists went to Blake Wheeler and Laine. St. Louis cut it back to 3-2 in the third, but the Jets responded on a Brandon Tanev goal 4:25 into the period on assists by Andrew Copp and Dustin Byfuglien. Byfuglien scored with 11:54 remaining in the contest to make it 5-2 on an assist from Copp. After the Blues got one goal back, an insurance goal from Connor with 5:16 to go on an assist from Mark Scheifele put it away. Connor Hellebuyck made 26 saves on 29 shots to post the win.

Blues' defense falters in Game 3

After a pair of stellar performances on the road, St. Louis fell flat at home Sunday night in a 6-3 home loss to Winnipeg in Game 3. David Perron gave the Blues a 1-0 advantage on the power play with 48 seconds remaining in the first period off assists from Alex Pietrangelo and goaltender Jordan Binnington. St. Louis allowed three second-period goals to fall behind 3-1, but climbed closer 1:51 into the third period on a Vladimir Tarasenko goal assisted by Vince Dunn. Winnipeg scored two more goals to make it 5-2 before Alexander Steen cut the deficit to 5-3 as his score with 6:18 was assisted by Pietrangelo and Joel Edmundson. Winnipeg scored its final goal a minute later to clinch it. Binnington allowed six goals on 29 shots in the defeat.

NHL Betting Trends

Winnipeg

The Jets are 3-7 in their last 10 games overall. The underdog is 4-0 in the last four meetings.

St. Louis

The Blues are 14-3 in their last 17 home games. St. Louis are 5-1 in its last six Tuesday games.

Prediction:

St. Louis looked strong in Game 2, but all it took was one poor period Sunday night to give the Jets some swagger back. Winnipeg has firepower up front, but I don't suspect we'll see as poor of a performance from the Blues defense in this series. The Blues are strong at home and have been one of the NHL's better teams since the turn of the calendar. I expect a rebound game tonight from the hosts.
