Flames dominate at Kings

Calgary skated to a decisive 7-2 victory Monday night at Los Angeles to improve to 50-23-7 on the season. The Flames took a 1-0 lead 2:07 into the game on a Derek Ryan goal assisted by Oliver Kylington and Garnet Hathaway. After LA tied it at 1-1, Calgary took the lead again with 5:51 remaining in the first on a Sam Bennett goal assisted by Mark Jankowski. The Kings managed to even the score again with 40 seconds to go in the first period before the Flames scored five unanswered goals the rest of the way. Johnny Gaudreau gave Calgary a 3-2 advantage in the second with his 36th goal of the campaign, assisted by Sean Monahan. Thirteen seconds into the third period a James Neal goal assisted by Jankowski pushed it to 4-2. Ryan scored his second goal of the game on assists by Neal and Rasmus Andersson a couple minutes later. With 11:30 remaining, a score by Andrew Mangiapane assisted by Juuso Valimaki and Michael Stone made it a 6-2 game. Fifteen seconds later, Jankowski completed the scoring off assists from Austin Czarnik and Alan Quine. David Rittich stopped 23 out of 25 shots in the winning effort.

Ducks roll at Oilers

Anaheim picked up a 5-1 road win at Edmonton Saturday night to move to 33-37-10 on the season. Corey Perry gave the Ducks a 1-0 advantage through the first period on a goal assisted by Adam Henrique and Hampus Lindholm. Rickard Rickell made it a 2-0 lead early in the second off a goal assisted by Jakob Silfverberg. Rickell scored his second goal of the contest later in the period with assists going to Sam Steel and Korbinian Holzer. Rickell turned it into a hat trick with 4:47 to go in the second on assists courtesy of Silfverberg and Lindholm. Devin Shore made it a 5-0 advantage early in the third period off a Sam Carrick assist. The Oilers managed to get on the board later in the third but could pull no closer. John Gibson made 30 saves on 31 shots to register the win.

NHL Betting Trends

Calgary

The Flames are 5-1 in their last six games versus the Pacific Division. Calgary is 9-3 in its last 12 games overall.

Anaheim

The Ducks are 4-1 in their last five games as a home underdog. Anaheim is 14-31 in its last 45 games overall.

Prediction:

Calgary is by far the superior team here, but Anaheim has been tough at home lately and will go up for this challenge. Even so, the Flames' offense is clicking on all cylinders right now and I don't see the Ducks slowing them down enough to steal one. Calgary's focus is on being playoff-ready and it will not take this one lightly.
