Blackhawks vs. Jets Prediction
The Blackhawks haven't been able to build any momentum of late and will look to bounce back from their latest loss when they visit the Jets tonight at 8:00PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Chicago is -152 money line favorites to beat Winnipeg, which has odds of +132 to pull off the upset tonight at home. As for the total, the number currently sits at 5 goals and the Hawks are -1.5 (+195) to beat the Jets on the puckline.
While he deserved a better fate in his last game, Ondrej Pavelec took the loss in a 3-2 overtime defeat at Philadelphia on Monday night. He made 29 saves and was 14 seconds away from a shootout when Claude Giroux ended the contest with a goal in the extra period. He's 10-13-3 on the year with a 2.72 goals-against-average to go along with his .907 save percentage.
The Blackhawks will counter with Scott Darling, who continues to draw starters with Corey Crawford on the shelf. After winning back-to-back games last weekend, Darling took a step back on Tuesday when he allowed three goals on just 17 shots in a 4-1 loss to the Wild. He's now 9-8-3 on the year with a 2.51 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage.
Even though Darling has been inconsistent, the Hawks have owned the Jets in previous meetings. They're 8-1 in their last nine trips to Winnipeg and 5-1 in their last six games versus the Jets overall. The road team has also won eight of the last 11 meetings between these two teams while the Jets are just 2-6 in their last eight games overall.
