Tampa Bay Lightning Fantasy Spin
Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 54 of 58 shots in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Washington Capitals. Vasilevskiy broke the record with his 49th save of the night, adding five more, with two of them coming in overtime to secure the win. He matched the mark set by Ben Bishop earlier this season back on Dec. 13. The Russian goaltender seems to be running away with the Vezina trophy. Vasilevskiy's record improves to 36-8-4 with a 2.29 goals-against-average and a .930 save percentage.
Carolina Hurricanes Fantasy Spin
Nino Niederreiter registered an assist with two shots on goal and a hit in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Niederreiter has a pair of assists over the past two games. More importantly the Swiss-born forward has registered 11 goals and 23 points across 26 games since coming over to the Hurricanes from the Wild. He had nine goals and 23 points in 46 games in the Twin Cities. He is the only player in the NHL to have 20 or more points with two different teams this season.
The Lightning are 43-10 in their last 53 games overall and are 37-14 in their last 51 road games.
The Hurricanes have won six of their previous seven games when they were listed as the favorite and are 4-1 in their last five home games.
While Carolina boasts an excellent defense, these two teams have enough scoring power to get over that 6.5-goal threshold. The over is 5-2 in the previous seven meetings between these two teams in Carolina and is 4-1 in the Lightning’s last six road games. The over is also 4-1 in Tampa’s last five games overall and is 3-1-1 in Carolina’s last five home games.
