Sunday’s NHL Opening Odds
(The Spread) – There are six games on the NHL schedule Sunday and it includes a battle out west between two teams in the Calgary Flames and the host Anaheim Ducks that are in need of a win to get back into the playoff picture.
Calgary begins play Sunday with a 37-27-9 overall record and are 15-15-5 in road games. Anaheim is 39-27-5 overall and has a 22-12-2 home mark. Play begins at 8:00PM EST.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have listed the Ducks as -130 favorites in the matchup, while the Flames are a +110 underdog. The over-under is set at 5.5. According to the latest trends, Anaheim is 7-3 against the spread versus Calgary over the last three seasons. Seven of the last 10 games in this series have gone under the total. Anaheim is 173-166 ATS when playing against a team with a winning record in the second half of the season since 1996.
Calgary is 6-4-0 in its last 10 games and is coming off a 5-2 victory over Colorado Thursday. Anaheim is 7-2-1 in its previous 10 games and has won 2-1 games over St. Louis and Los Angeles in the last two.
Jarome Iginla leads the Flames with 32 goals and 38 assists, while Anaheim’s Corey Perry has 36 goals and 39 assists.
In other NHL action, the New Jersey Devils are at the Columbus Blue Jackets for a 5:00PM EST start. New Jersey is a -140 favorite and the over-under is 5. Nashville is at Buffalo for a 5:00PM EST start. The Sabres are a -145 fave, while the over-under is 5. Chicago travels to Phoenix at 8:00PM EST, where the Blackhawks are a -120 favorite and the over-under is 5.5.
