Bruins double up Kings
Boston earned a 4-2 victory Saturday night at Los Angeles to improve to 34-17-8 on the season. Jake DeBrusk scored the lone goal of the first period on assists from Peter Cehlarik and David Krejci to give the Bruins a 1-0 advantage. After LA tied it at 1-1 in the second, a goal by Brad Marchand on an assist from Patrice Bergeron gave Boston the lead again with 3:45 left in the period. The Kings managed to tie it at 2-2 in the third, but Charlie McAvoy scored with 1:13 remaining to put the Bruins ahead for good. DeBrusk and Krejci assisted on the score. Bergeron scored his 21st goal of the season on an empty net in the final minute. Tuukka Rask made 23 saves on 25 shots in the winning effort.
Sharks slip by Canucks
San Jose earned a 3-2 home win over Vancouver Saturday night to move to 35-17-7 on the season. Timo Meier opened the scoring on the power play 3:45 in on assists from Erik Karlsson and Evander Kane. The Canucks tied it up less than a minute later and it was a 1-1 game through 20 minutes. Logan Couture found the back of the net with 8:52 remaining in the second period with assists going to Joe Pavelski and Brent Burns. Vancouver tied it at 2-2 in the third, but Pavelski scored his 31st goal of the season to put the hosts ahead for good with 6:54 left. Assists on the goal went to Meier and Couture. Martin Jones turned away 32 out of 34 shots to record the win.
NHL Betting Trends
The Bruins are 8-0 in their last eight games versus the Pacific Division. Boston is 4-1 in its last five games as an underdog.
The Sharks are 4-1 in their last five games playing on one day of rest. San Jose is 4-1 in its last five games as a favorite.
Both teams enter playing exceptional hockey, but if there's a team that can slow down the Sharks I feel it's the Bruins and their style of play. Boston is physical and knows how to grind out wins with its veteran core. Each team has a day of rest coming in and I think Rask will step up to the challenge against an elite offensive team. Bet on the Bruins to carve out a win here.
