Thursday NHL Opening Odds
(The Spread) – There are five games on the NHL schedule for Thursday night, one of which involving the beat-up Pittsburgh Penguins hosting the Los Angeles Kings. Continue reading for opening lines, odds and totals for the NHL games on February 10, 2011.
Due to injuries and suspension, the Pittsburgh Penguins (34-17-4) are missing roughly half of their goal-scoring production this season. Pittsburgh will attempt to get by with what it has available Thursday night at 7:00PM EST as it hosts the Los Angeles Kings (29-22-2).
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Penguins -120 favorites, while the over-under is listed at 5. Acccording to the latest trends, the Kings are 19-32-2 on over-unders this season while Pittsburgh is 19-34-2 on over-unders. The Penguins are 19-10-1 in home games and Los Angeles is 12-13-1 on the road.
With Sidney Crosby still out with a concussion, Kris Letang is Pittsburgh’s leading healthy scorer with seven goals and 41 assists. Los Angeles’ Anze Kopitar highlights his team’s offense with 16 goals and 34 assists.
Elsewhere on the NHL schedule, the Philadelphia Flyers are home at 7:00PM EST against the Carolina Hurricanes. Philadelphia is a -180 favorite and the over-under rests at 5.5. Buffalo is on the road at Florida for a 7:30PM EST start, where the Sabres are -120 favorites and the over-under is 5.5.
