Penguins pick up OT win at Coyotes
Pittsburgh won 3-2 in overtime at Arizona Friday night to improve to 25-16-6 on the season. Phil Kessel scored his 19th goal of the season on the power play with 50 seconds left in overtime to win it. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin recorded assists on the game-winner. Juuso Riikola tied it at 1-1 in the second for Pittsburgh on a goal assisted by Marcus Petersson and Dominik Simon. Jake Guentzel scored his 24th goal of the season 40 seconds later on assists by Matt Cullen and Garrett Wilson to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage before the Coyotes ended up tying it in the third. Matt Murray made 31 saves on 33 shots in the winning effort.
Golden Knights fall at Jets
Las Vegas lost by a 4-1 score Tuesday night at Winnipeg to drop to 28-17-4 on the season. Brandon Pirri scored the lone Golden Knights goal 1:03 into the third period on assists by Brayden McNabb and Paul Stastny, but the Jets scored two insurance goals to close it out. Marc-Andre Fleury made 23 saves on 25 shots to take the loss.
NHL Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Penguins are 11-3 in their last 14 games overall. Pittsburgh is 7-2 in its last nine road games.
Las Vegas
The Golden Knights are 8-2 in their last 10 games overall. Las Vegas is 8-2 in its last 10 games versus the Metropolitan Division.
Prediction:
Pittsburgh has plenty of firepower and as long as it receives good defense and goaltending, it can beat anyone. The problem is that this is a back-to-back, so backup goaltender Casey DeSmith will be in net and that is a significant step back from Murray. Las Vegas is solid in all phases and looking to rebound from its loss at Winnipeg. I’m taking the favorites in this spot.
