The storied rivalry between the Detroit Red Wings (27-10-5) and the Colorado Avalanche (21-15-6) peaked in the late 1990's when the two squads battled for Western Conference supremacy. While the bad blood the teams have for each other has cooled in recent seasons, there are still many who remember the past well and it is still considered a rivalry by some of those who are involved.

Detroit travels to Colorado for another meeting Monday night at 9:30PM EST as the Red Wings are coming off one of their most satisfying wins of the season, while Colorado is searching for answers after made its toughest defeat to swallow. 

Oddsmakers from online sports book have made the Avalanche -110 favorites Monday.

The Red Wings battled from behind Saturday night to win 2-1 in a shootout against the Vancouver Canucks, owners of the best record in the NHL. Goaltender Jimmy Howard (2.68 goals-against average) was a huge factor in the Detroit win as he stopped shot after shot down the stretch including all three shootout attempts.

On the other hand, the Avalanche are reeling a bit as they have dropped three of their last four games which includes a 4-3 overtime defeat Saturday versus the New York Islanders, who have the second-worst record in the NHL.

According to the latest trends, Colorado is 6-5 in the last three seasons against Detroit. The Avalanche enter action with an 11-8-3 mark at home, while the Red Wings are 14-5-1 on the road thus far.

Henrik Zetterberg leads the Red Wings with 15 goals and 32 assists, while Colorado's Matt Duchene comes into play with 16 goals and 24 assists.

Another big game on the schedule is Boston at Pittsburgh, which starts at 7:30PM EST. The game was not lined overnight. The Phoenix Coyotes (19-13-9) travels to St. Louis (20-14-6) for a 9:00PM EST start. St. Louis is currently a -150 favorite and the over-under is 5.5.
