DAVIE, Fla. (AP) – Bryan Cox hasn’t changed much since his last season with the Miami Dolphins in 1995, when he was a passionate chatterbox who made headlines and Pro Bowls. The ex-linebacker is still a passionate chatterbox looking for sacks, only now he’s doing it as the team’s new pass-rush coach.
When he played, Cox didn’t seem like coaching material. He waged an ongoing feud with Bills fans, spitting and waving his middle fingers at them. He offered a Giants fan $10,000 to fight him. He charged the Bengals’ bench and challenged the entire team to a fight.
He worked in broadcasting and decided to give coaching a try when Jets coach Eric Mangini offered him a job in 2006. Dolphins coach Tony Sparano hired Cox this past offseason.
