HOUSTON (AP) -Houston backup quarterback Sage Rosenfels tied an NFL record with four touchdown passes in the fourth quarter of the Texans’ 38-36 loss to Tennessee.
Rosenfels threw scoring passes to David Anderson (7 yards), Kevin Walter (6 yards), Jeb Putzier (7 yards) and Andre Davis (53 yards) to become only the second quarterback to throw four TD passes in the fourth quarter. Vinny Testaverde threw four for the New York Jets against Miami on Oct. 23, 2000.
Rosenfels nearly set an NFL fourth-quarter record for yards passing in a fourth quarter with 249. Boomer Esiason threw for 252 for Arizona against Washington on Nov. 10, 1996.
Houston starter Matt Schaub left the game after a helmet-to-helmet hit from Albert Haynesworth late in the second quarter.
Rosenfels finished 22-for-35 for 290 yards.
