KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -If Herm Edwards is on his way out as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, his new boss isn’t saying.
In his first news conference since being hired as general manager, Scott Pioli would only say Wednesday that he intends to visit with Edwards. Pioli said he talked with Edwards earlier in the day and has a lot of respect for the coach.
There have been reports that Edwards is on his way out. The Chiefs went 2-23 in their last 25 games. Overall, they’re 6-26 in two seasons under Edwards.
As general manager, Pioli succeeds Carl Peterson, who was also the Chiefs’ president and CEO. Peterson resigned last month after 20 years.
Kansas City hired Pioli from New England, where he spent the last nine years.
