Little urgency from Rivers over extension
SAN DIEGO, CA (The Spread) – It doesn’t appear that Philip Rivers will be signing a contract extension with the Chargers anytime soon.
The Union-Tribune San Diego reports that Rivers’ camp has continued to show “little urgency” when it comes to extension talks with the Chargers. The team reportedly wants to lock up Rivers long-term, but the quarterback doesn’t seem intent on making a deal happen. He’s currently in the final year of the seven-year, $98.25 million contract that he signed back in August of 2009.
There has been rumors that Rivers wants to see whether the Chargers wind up moving to Los Angeles before deciding whether or not he wants to return. Those same rumors indicate that Rivers has no desire to play in L.A. and could seek a different situation after the 2015 season. He’ll turn 34 in December.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Chargers are 40/1 to win the 2016 Super Bowl.
