NFL Week 8 Betting Recap
There were more than a couple of surprises in Week 8 of the NFL. Read on to check out our NFL Scores Week 8 report to find out who covered and who didn’t on Sunday.
For the second time in as many weeks, the Bills surprised the betting public by covering as a decent-sized road underdog. They fell 13-10 in OT to the Chiefs, but covered as a 7-point underdog.
The Jaguars were another road team that found success on Sunday, as they crushed the Cowboys 35-17 as a 6.5-point dog. There were plenty of bettors who thought 6.5 points were too much for a bad Dallas team to give up and they were right.
One week after picking up their first win, the Panthers laid another egg in St. Louis. Carolina lost 20-10 as 2.5-point underdogs as Sam Bradford threw for 191 yards.
The Dolphins wound up being favored by 1-point in Cincinnati even though they were a 1-point dog all week. They beat the Bengals 22-14 and covered easily.
The Lions were a surprising 2.5-point home favorite this week but they wound up covering easily in a 37-25 win over the Redskins in Detroit. The Lions scored 23 points in the fourth quarter, which included a defensive touchdown on a fumble recovery.
In London, the 49ers soundly beat the Broncos 24-16 thanks to 21 fourth quarter points. They covered the 2-point spread while the combined score fell under the posted total of 41 points.
The Packers shocked the Jets on Sunday by shutting them out in New York. Green Bay easily covered the 6.5-point spread as an underdog by beating the Jets, 9-0.
The Titans fell to the Chargers in San Diego as a 6-point underdog. The Bolts were 3.5-point favorites but the odds jumped up on Sunday as all the action came in on San Diego. The Chargers won, 33-25.
The Buccaneers won a back-and-forth score-fest in Arizona on Sunday, beating the Cardinals, 38-35. The Bucs were 3-point underdogs and squandered a 31-14 lead before coming back to beat the Cards late in the fourth.
The Patriots put together a drive with under six minutes to play to beat the Vikings and cover the 5-point spread. New England won 28-18 and knocked out Brett Favre (jaw/chin) midway through the fourth quarter.
The Seahawks had no answers for the Oakland defense as the Raiders beat Seattle 33-3 as a 1.5-point favorite. The combined score fell under the posted total of 39.5, although three missed field goals certainly helped that situation.
The Saints shocked the Steelers 20-10, although New Orleans was a 1-point favorite heading into the game. The combined score fell under the posted total of 45 points as the two teams only combined for nine points heading into the fourth quarter.
