Falcons vs. Giants Spread Prediction
A pair of struggling teams will meet on Monday Night Football tonight, as the Atlanta Falcons host the New York Giants at 8:20 p.m. ET. Are the Giants a good bet to at least cover the spread, if not win outright?
Game Snapshot
475 New York Giants at 476 Atlanta Falcons
8:15 p.m. ET, Monday, October 22
Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, GA
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Falcons are 4-point favorites to beat the Giants. The total, meanwhile, sits at 52.5 points. As of this writing, 71% of the public betting tickets are on the Falcons to cover the point spread.
New York Giants
Giants C/OG John Greco will start at right guard against the Falcons in Week 7. Patrick Omameh signed with the Giants in June but will be moved to the bench for horrendously poor play. Greco, who’s started the last four games at center, will slide over to guard. Spencer Pulley will take over at center. There’s no guarantee this will improve New York’s shoddy pass pro, but anything is worth trying over the team’s current situation.
Atlanta Falcons
Mohamed Sanu (hip) was removed from the Week 7 injury report. It’s a surprise after Sanu only got in one limited practice this week. This puts Sanu on track for his normal snaps in Monday night’s game with the Giants. With Julio Jones drawing Janoris Jenkins, Sanu may see a few more targets this week.
NFL Betting Trends
New York
The Giants are 3-9 against the spread in their last 12 conference games.
Atlanta
The Falcons are 1-5 against the number in their last six games coming off a win.
Prediction
The Falcons were fortunate to escape with a win last week against the Bucs and even more fortunate to cover the 3.5-point spread with a 4-point victory. Matt Bryant needed to kick a massive field goal in the closing minutes just to put the Falcons back up by 4 and honestly, it was a probably a bad decision by coach Dan Quinn to even attempt the field goal only up 2. Had Bryant missed, the Bucs would have had the ball back around midfield only needing a field goal to win. Atlanta’s shoddy defense still almost found a way to lose the game before Tampa stalled inside the red zone.
The Giants are a mess offensively but the Falcons are allowing 31 points per game and have generated very few stops defensively this season. Quite frankly, I don’t trust either team but the Falcons have a habit of blowing games in the second half and even though they’re at home, the Giants are a live dog with upset potential.
