San Francisco 49ers Fantasy Spin
Deebo Samuel (shoulder) was removed from the Week 17 injury report. Samuel is good to go after a limited week of practice. He also played through a shoulder injury for most of November. Samuel went off in his previous matchup against Seattle, catching 8-of-11 targets for 112 yards. He’s a WR3 for the regular season finale.
Seattle Seahawks Fantasy Spin
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Marshawn Lynch will see 10-15 carries against the 49ers in Week 17. Despite a long layoff, Lynch reportedly didn’t miss a beat at practice this week, showing well in blitz pick-up among other impressive traits. Given their lack of available bodies—Chris Carson (hip), Rashaad Penny (ACL) and C.J. Prosise (arm) are all on I.R.—Lynch should be busy upon his return Sunday night and figures to be Seattle’s back of choice in key, short-yardage situations. Robert Turbin and rookie Travis Homer will mix in as well.
San Francisco
The 49ers are 1-6-1 against the spread in their last eight games in Seattle and are 3-12-1 against the number in their last 16 games versus the Seahawks overall.
Seattle
The Seahawks are 12-5 against the spread in their last 17 games as a home underdog and are 33-15-3 against the number in their last 51 games as an underdog overall.
NFL Week 17 Prediction
It’s tempting to back the Seahawks as a home dog but with how poorly they played offensively last week against a bad Cardinals team, I just can’t do it. Russell Wilson looked mortal playing behind an offensive line that didn’t have left tackle Duane Brown, who will be out tonight as well. Lynch might provide an emotional boost for the Seahawks, but he hasn’t played in over a year so assuming that he’s going to make a huge impact over 10-15 carries is asking a lot. And given how this Seattle offense is predicated on the run, things could fall apart for that unit again tonight like it did last week versus Arizona. This is a divisional matchup and it’s difficult to win in Seattle, so I expect this game to come down to the wire. Nevertheless, I’ll take the better team, but buy the hook to get the Niners at only a field goal.
