Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Rams are 14-point favorites to beat the Cardinals. The total, meanwhile, sits at 44 points. As of this writing, 55% of the public betting tickets are on the Rams to cover the point spread.
Los Angeles Rams
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Rams “would like” to sit Todd Gurley (game-time decision) if there are “any concerns” about his knee. As has seemed to be the case all week, Schefter reports Gurley wants to play while the Rams want to play it safe. More than just a normal pre-game check, it sounds like Gurley will have to prove he is near 100 percent in warmups to get the green light. C.J. Anderson will reportedly lead the backfield if Gurley sits, but John Kelly should also be involved.
Arizona Cardinals
Ricky Seals-Jones (illness) is questionable for Week 16 against the Rams. This is barely worth mentioning as players rarely sit out due to illnesses. Seals-Jones was absent for Wednesday and Thursday’s sessions but returned to the practice field as a limited participant on Friday. He’s cleared 50 yards receiving just once in his last eight games and won’t be an option for the fantasy championship.
NFL Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Rams are 1-5 against the spread in their last six conference games and are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Arizona
The Cardinals are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall but are 4-1 ATS in their last five divisional games.
Prediction
As they showed a week ago in their 40-14 loss in Atlanta, the Cardinals are horrendous. They’re likely to hang onto the No. 1 pick in next April’s draft but the Rams also come into today with a struggling offense and might not play Gurley. Despite their problems the past two weeks, this is also the same Arizona team that went into Lambeau and upset the Packers as a massive underdog. Now at home and against a familiar foe, the Cardinals should hang around long enough to cover today.
