Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Texans are 7-point favorites to beat the Jets. The total, meanwhile, sits at 44 points. As of this writing, 68% of the public betting tickets are on the Texans to cover the point spread.
Houston Texans
Keke Coutee (hamstring) won’t play in Week 15 against the Jets. Coutee was downgraded mid-week and won’t travel with the team. DeAndre Hopkins has played three games without Will Fuller (torn ACL, IR) and Coutee since Week 9, amassing an exquisite team-high 37% target share in those contests. Hopkins is the only matchup-proof option worth playing in Houston’s low-volume passing game.
New York Jets
Isaiah Crowell (foot) was placed on injured reserve, ending his 2018 season. New York will move forward with second-year pro Elijah McGuire, sixth-round rookie Trenton Cannon, and practice squad call-up and ex-Broncos RB De’Angelo Henderson manning their backfield to close out the year. Crowell was a formidable scoring option for the Jets, having hit pay dirt six times this season, but ultimately recorded a majority of his rushing yardage (685) in his Week 5 219-yard explosive against the Broncos. It’s possible the Jets simply move on from Crowell in the offseason after inking him for $12 million in 2018.
NFL Betting Trends
Houston
The under is 12-4 in the Texans’ last 16 games versus conference opponents and is 8-3 in their last 11 road games.
New York
The under is 4-1 in the Jets’ last five games played on Saturday but the over is 4-1 in their last five home games.
Prediction
The Texans should bounce-back today following their loss at home last week to the Colts. The Jets’ offensive line is a major weakness, one that the Texans’ front four can certainly take advantage of. The Jets pulled off an impressive comeback last Sunday in Buffalo but Sam Darnold essentially won the game for New York on a broken play. He and the Jets won’t be as fortunate today.
