Buffalo Bills Fantasy Spin
Josh Allen completed 17-of-39 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown in the Bills’ 24-17, Week 14 loss to the Ravens, adding two carries for nine additional yards. Allen also lost a fumble and took a season-worst six sacks. Both his passing and rushing totals were his lowest of the year. Only the relative lack of turnovers prevented it from being worse than his It was Week 4 performance against the Patriots. Allen air mailed a pair of potential long first quarter scores — including a would-be 90-yarder to Robert Foster — and then never really came close to hitting another one. He did allow Cole Beasley to draw a long fourth quarter DPI, but it was a dubious call. The Bills were the recipients of a number of generous calls to keep late drives alive. Allen will be tasked with bouncing back in a dread-worthy Week 15 date with the Steelers.
Pittsburgh Steelers Fantasy Spin
Devlin Hodges completed 16-of-19 passes for 152 yards and one touchdown in Pittsburgh’s Week 14 win over the Cardinals. He played outside of the pocket on a handful of dropbacks, too, sprinkling in an additional 34 yards with his legs. Hodges’ numbers through the air aren’t eye-popping, but it’s clear he’s added another dimension to the Steelers’ offense in his last two outings — something Mason Rudolph failed to do all season. ‘Duck’ also become the first undrafted quarterback in league history to win his first three career starts. Pittsburgh’s swarming Steel Curtain 2.0 remains their catalyst and the majority reason for the Steelers’ 8-5 record this year as coach Mike Tomlin astonishingly clinched his 13th straight season without a losing campaign. They’ll again be put to the test against Josh Allen and the Bills’ electric offense in Week 15.
NFL Betting Trends
Buffalo
The under is 5-1 in the Bills’ last six games overall and is 14-3 in their last 17 games when listed as an underdog.
Pittsburgh
The under is a perfect 5-0 in the Steelers’ last five games overall and is 5-1 in their last six games played in the month of December.
Prediction
The Bills have scored at least 20 points in three of their last four games but the Steelers have held four of their last five opponents to fewer than 20 points so I don’t see Buffalo scoring more than 17 on Sunday night. It’s a similar case for Buffalo, as the Bills held Lamar Jackson and the Ravens to 24 points last Sunday but that was the highest scoring output they surrendered since the Eagles hung 31 on them at the end of October. At best this is a 20-17 game but I see it more as a 16-13 field goal fest as both offenses struggle to move the ball on a cold night in Pittsburgh.
