Packers vs. Falcons Spread Prediction
The Green Bay Packers will take the field Sunday without Mike McCarthy after firing the head coach last week. Will they snap their three-game losing streak and cover as a home favorite when they host the hapless Atlanta Falcons at 1:00 p.m. ET?
Game Snapshot
111 Atlanta Falcons at 112 Green Bay Packers
1:00 p.m. ET, Sunday, December 9, 2018
Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Packers are 4.5-point favorites to beat the Falcons. The total, meanwhile, sits at 51 points. As of this writing, 51% of the public betting tickets are on the Falcons to cover the point spread.
Atlanta Falcons
Calvin Ridley (hand, elbow) wasn’t listed on the Falcons’ final injury report for Week 14 against the Packers. Ridley was limited at practice this week, but there was never much concern over his status. The Alabama product has been as good as advertised this year, leading all rookies in both receiving yards (647) and touchdown receptions (eight). He’ll be in the WR3 mix Sunday at Lambeau.
Green Bay Packers
Jimmy Graham (knee, thumb) will play in Week 14 against the Falcons. Both Randall Cobb (hamstring) and Graham were removed the injury report Friday. With Mike McCarthy’s approach now out the window, Aaron Rodgers and Graham should logically return to being mid-tier starters against the Falcons’ injury-riddled defense. Cobb remains a dicey WR4/5 after seeing only five targets in a full-time role upon his return against the Cardinals.
NFL Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Falcons are 17-6-1 against the spread in their last 24 games after accumulating less than 250 total yards in their previous game.
Green Bay
The Packers are 1-3-1 against the number in their last five games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four games played in the month of December.
Prediction
Aaron Rodgers should have an extra pep in his step on Sunday since the team got rid of McCarthy, whom the quarterback reportedly battled with over the years. This is a perfect spot for the Packers to rebound, as the Falcons are 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games and are winless at 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. Atlanta hasn’t scored more than 19 points in any game the past four weeks. The Falcons offensive line is struggling, they have no running game and their defense remains piss poor. Green Bay should roll.
NFL Week 14 Prediction: Green Bay Packers -4.5
