Seahawks vs. Packers Pick

NFL Picks: Is 45.5 points too high of a total for the Seahawks and Packers?

Will the Seattle Seahawks be able to hold the surging Green Bay Packers’ offense in check when the two NFC powers meet up this Sunday at 4:25PM ET?

According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Seahawks are a road favorite in this game, as they are getting odds of -3 points against the Packers. The over/under total for the game is listed at 45.5 points. The home team has won five straight in this series and the two are 5-2-1 with the over in their last eight meetings.

Bet on Seahawks vs. Packers

Seattle is sitting at 8-3-1 on the season, which puts it second in the NFC standings right now. The Seahawks have won four of their last five coming into this game and they are 6-6 with the over/under total this season. Seattle continues to have one of the top defenses in the NFL, as they give up just 16.2 points and 346.9 yards per game. The unit has 31 sacks while forcing 16 turnovers. Cliff Avril has 10 sacks to lead the team while Richard Sherman has four interceptions. The defense did lose a big piece last week as safety Earl Thomas suffered a broken leg. Thomas had 48 tackles with two interceptions this season. Offensively, Seattle has been improving over the second half of the season. The Seahawks are now averaging 22 points and 376.8 yards per game. They got a big boost last week as Thomas Rawls rushed for over 100 yards in the win over the Panthers. A steady run game would take pressure off of Russell Wilson, who has been battling injuries all season. Wilson has thrown for 3,142 yards and 12 touchdowns with five interceptions.

Green Bay has won back-to-back games to move to 6-6 on the season. They are also 6-6 with the over/under total, hitting the under in two straight. The reason for the win streak has been the Green Bay defense, which has held its last two opponents to just 13 points each. For the season, Green Bay is giving up 25.2 points and 365.6 yards per game. The defense will be without one of its top players as Nick Perry is out for Sunday. Perry has eight sacks and an interception this year but has a finger injury. Offensively, Green Bay is putting up 24.6 points and 374.1 yards per game. Aaron Rodgers is having another strong year as he has thrown for 3,283 yards and 29 touchdowns with seven interceptions. He also is the leading active rusher with 301 yards and three scores.

The total is set somewhat high for two teams currently playing well on defense. Green Bay’s offense is a challenge to deal with, but the Seahawks have been able to limit almost everyone they face. The Green Bay defense has shown improvement in recent weeks and faces a Seattle offense that was held to just 5 total points in their last road game. I think this game will be a grind, with both teams really needing a win for their playoff status.
