Broncos vs. 49ers Total Prediction
Both the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers enter play this weekend with banged-up offenses. Will that led to the under cashing for bettors when the teams meet at 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday?
Game Snapshot
123 Denver Broncos at 124 San Francisco 49ers
1:00 p.m. ET, Sunday, December 9, 2018
Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, California
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the 49ers are 3.5-point favorites to beat the Broncos. The total, meanwhile, sits at 45.5 points. As of this writing, 74% of the public betting tickets are on the Broncos to cover the point spread.
Denver Broncos
Broncos placed WR Emmanuel Sanders (Achilles) on injured reserve. An MRI confirmed Sanders has a torn Achilles. Sanders will be nine months removed from surgery for Week 1, making him a candidate to open the season on reserve/PUP. Entering a contract year, the Broncos can save $10.2 million from releasing Sanders this offseason, but his injury guarantees will likely keep him in Denver. Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick, and DaeSean Hamilton will close out the year as the Broncos’ top three wideouts.
San Francisco 49ers
Matt Breida (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 14 against the Broncos. Breida aggravated his preexisting ankle injury in pregame warmups ahead of Sunday’s game in Seattle and touched the ball just eight times while Jeff Wilson worked as the lead back. Breida has been playing hurt much of the year, but it finally caught up to him. Wilson will be an RB2.
NFL Betting Trends
Denver
The under is 3-0-1 in the Broncos’ last four games after allowing less than 15 points in their previous game.
San Francisco
The over is 10-2 in the 49ers’ last 12 games after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game.
Prediction
I don’t trust the 49ers to move the ball enough against this Broncos defense for bettors to cash the over. The under is 4-1 in the 49ers’ last five games coming off a loss and 4-1 in their last five games following a loss of more than 14 points. The Broncos pound the ball on the ground with Phillip Lindsay and they’ll need to do so again on Sunday without Sanders. The under is 4-0-1 in Denver’s last five games overall and is 5-2-1 in its last eight road games.
NFL Week 14 Prediction: Broncos/49ers under 45.5
