Eagles vs. Dolphins Week 13 Prediction

Eagles vs. Dolphins, 12/1/19 NFL Predictions for Week 13

With the Cowboys losing on Thanksgiving Day, the Eagles have an opportunity to even their record at 6-6 and once again tie Dallas atop the NFC East. That said, will Philly cover as a 10-point favorite in Miami on Sunday?

Philadelphia Eagles Fantasy Spin

Jordan Howard (shoulder) is questionable for the Eagles' Week 13 matchup against the Dolphins. Howard seems unlikely to suit up considering he still hasn't been cleared for contact. Miles Sanders has posted 85% and 84% snap rates over the past two weeks, which are the two-highest single-game marks from any RB since coach Doug Pederson took over in 2016. The rookie certainly didn't benefit from Carson Wentz's inability to complete easy throws to his wide-open RB in the flat in Week 12, but it appears as if Sanders is locked into RB2 usage as long as Howard remains sidelined. The Eagles' rookie RB should keep a fantasy-friendly role in the passing game even if Howard returns with Darren Sproles (quad, IR) done for the season. Sanders has demonstrated the rare ability to beat defenses downfield despite lining up from the backfield, and his pass protection has been nothing short of phenomenal.

Miami Dolphins Fantasy Spin

Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 21-of-39 passes for 214 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in Week 12 against the Browns. He also added a rushing touchdown and was Miami's leading rusher with 45 yards. Fitzpatrick's first interception came on an Albert Wilson dropped pass, but his second was a bad overthrow into coverage. He managed to get Miami within two scores in the second half despite an early blowout before a Nick Chubb touchdown sealed the game. Fitzpatrick came into Sunday with a shoulder/forearm injury but looked fine. With Fitzpatrick playing well, the Dolphins plan to let him finish out the year as their starter.

NFL Betting Trends

The Eagles are 16-6 against the spread in their last 22 games played in Week 13 and are 4-1 against the number in their last five games played in the month of December.

The Dolphins are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games coming off a loss and are 5-2 against the number in their last seven games overall.

If the Eagles were firing on all cylinders offensively, I would consider laying double-digit points with this team on the road. But with how much Carson Wentz and Co. has struggled the past two weeks, I’m going to take the points with Miami. Granted, the Dolphins struggle on both sides of the ball, but the Eagles aren’t healthy right now and I just can’t trust that they’ll win by multiple scores. Plus, Fitzpatrick has a way of keeping the Dolphins in games.
