Hawks vs. Cards Pick
NFC West rivals meet in at the University of Phoenix Stadium this Sunday when the Arizona Cardinals host the Seattle Seahawks at 4:15PM ET.
The Seahawks defeated the Lions 32-20 as an 11-point favorite in Week 9, while the combined score went over the posted total of 42 points. Matt Hasselbeck threw for 329 yards with a touchdown and Julius Jones rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. Seattle needed a last second defensive touchdown to cover the spread.
The Cardinals hammered the Bears 41-21 in Chicago as a 3-point underdog in Week 9. The combined score went over the posted total of 45 as Kurt Warner threw for 261 yards and a whopping fie touchdown passes in the win. Larry Fitzgerald picked up the slack for a receiving corps missing Anquan Boldin by catching nine passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Cardinals 9-point favorites over the Seahawks in Week 10. The over/under total for this game has been set at 46.5 points.
Arizona is 4-1 against the spread in its last five games, while Seattle is just 1-4 against the number in its last five games when playing on the road against the Cardinals. The total has gone over in five of the Seahawks’ last five games when playing the defending NFC champions.
The Cardinals are coming off an impressive win over the Bears last Sunday, but they have played much better on the road this year than at home. We don’t expect that trend to continue and we think now is the right time to hop on Arizona’s bandwagon and lay the points.
Even when the Seahawks had good teams under Mike Holmgren, they struggled in Arizona. Outside of a convincing 33-19 win in 2005, the Seahawks lost in Arizona in 2006, in 2007 and last year. For whatever reason, Seattle just doesn’t play well in the dessert and we expect that trend to continue.
The Seahawks have no running game and it wouldn’t matter if they did, because the Cards’ run defense has been great this season. Offensively, Warner, Fitzgerald and Boldin (if healthy) will be too much for Seattle’s injury-riddled defense.
Our free pick for this game is Arizona –9 and the over 46.5. Along with the stat we previously mentioned with the over covering in five of the last five meetings between these two teams, it has also hit in 13 of Arizona’s last 17 games at home.
Our NFL Week 10 Free Pick for this matchup is: ARIZONA CARDINALS -9 and OVER 46.5.
