Top 5 NFL Teams based on SB Odds
Who are the top 5 teams in the NFL through Week 9 based on current Super Bowl odds? Here is the list.
1. New England Patriots
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Patriots currently 4/1 Super Bowl favorites. New England was off last week but remains a full game ahead of the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East at 6-2. They're also the defending Super Bowl champions, a massive public team, and have an opportunity to improve to 7-2 this Sunday night when they face a Broncos team with crushing quarterback problems. The Patriots are in great shape.
2. Philadelphia Eagles
At some books in Las Vegas, the Eagles actually have better odds than the Patriots to win the Super Bowl. Philadelphia heads into its bye week following a 51-23 thrashing of the Denver Broncos on Sunday. The Eagles covered as a 7-point home favorite over the Broncos to improve to 7-2 against the spread, which is the best ATS record of any team in the league. While the Cowboys aren't going away in the NFC East, the Eagles still have a commanding lead over every team in the division at 8-1. Thanks to MVP candidate Carson Wentz and a bruising running game that features both LeGarrette Blount and Jay Ajayi, the Eagles are a legitimate Super Bowl contender at 6/1 odds.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers are 13/2 to win the Super Bowl following their bye week. The team still has issues to iron out, mostly at quarterback where Ben Roethlisberger has struggled. That said, the defense is solid and there might not be a more talented offense when Big Ben is playing well. Thanks to Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown, if Roethlisberger can clean up his game then Pittsburgh will be a tough out in the playoffs. Mike Tomlin's team is now 6-2 and has a two-game lead over the Ravens in the AFC North. Pittsburgh has already beaten Baltimore once this season, too.
4. Kansas City Chiefs
Despite losing to the Cowboys 28-17 on Sunday, the Chiefs are still 10/1 to win the Super Bowl. At 6-3, Kansas City is still far and away the team to beat in the AFC West despite its loss in Dallas. Oakland improved to 4-5 with a narrow win over Miami on Sunday nit and Denver is a disaster at 3-5. The Chargers, who are also 3-5, have been inconsistent this season. It's the Chiefs' division to lose.
5. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks aren't even leading their division at the moment but oddsmakers still believe in Seattle's chances of reaching the Super Bowl. At 14/1, I can't decide if the Seahawks are a value play or overvalued by oddsmakers. Russell Wilson is a MVP candidate when he's playing well but he had a hell of a time moving the offense against an average Washington defense on Sunday and now the Seahawks have to turn around and play on the road against Arizona in a few days. Just when you start to buy into the Seahawks, they lay an egg at home against a banged-up Redskins team.
