Eagles vs. Panthers Spread Prediction
The Philadelphia Eagles are laying five points at home to the visiting Carolina Panthers on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET. Is the betting line too high for a matchup of teams that are fairly even?
Game Snapshot
459 Carolina Panthers at 460 Philadelphia Eagles

Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Eagles are 5-point favorites to beat the Panthers. The total, meanwhile, sits at 45 points. As of this writing, 51% of the public betting tickets are on the Eagles to cover the point spread.
Carolina Panthers
Panthers coach Ron Rivera did not consider benching D.J. Moore. The rookie lost two fumbles in the first half, but his coach stood by him. “We’re trying to develop a football team,” Rivera said. “I’m not too concerned about punishing players for making mistakes as much as we are about developing them and making sure they’re learning and growing and being able to go forward with them.” Moore continues to play fewer snaps than Torrey Smith and Jarius Wright, but his role is growing. He is a fine bench stash in deeper leagues.
Philadelphia Eagles
Eagles LT Jason Peters (biceps) wasn’t listed on the team’s final injury report for Week 7 against the Panthers. Peters tore his biceps last week but he’ll gut it out against the Panthers. RT Lane Johnson (ankle) will also suit up for that game.
NFL Betting Trends
Carolina
The Panthers failed to cover the point spread in five of the previous seven meetings with the Eagles.
Philadelphia
The Eagles are just 1-4 against the number in their last five games overall but have covered the spread in 14 of their last 20 conference games.
Prediction
Based solely on how these two teams played a week ago, the spread for this game makes sense. But when you take account the entire picture of these teams, I see an even matchup. In my estimation, the Eagles should be favored by 2.5 or 3, based purely on home field advantage. Thus, I see major value in the Panthers, who can win this game outright. Both defenses are stout in the front seven and both defenses are susceptible to allowing big pass plays. But the Panthers are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games following a loss and I expect them to play a much sharper game than they did a week ago in D.C.
