Ravens vs. Giants Prediction
Will the New York Giants be able to get back on track when they host the Baltimore Ravens today at 1PM ET?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Giants come into today’s game favored at home, as they are getting odds of -3 points against the Ravens. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 45 points. Baltimore has won and covered the spread in four of the last five meetings with the Giants.
The Giants are on the 3-game losing streak now following a 23-16 loss to the Packers on Sunday night. New York is just 1-3-1 against the spread as well, as they have struggled on offense the past few weeks and are now averaging just 17.8 points and 360.6 yards per game on offense. The run game is only producing 83.6 yards per game on the year as injuries have hurt the position but Rashad Jennings is expected return from a thumb injury this week. That would help Eli Manning, who has not been able to be as effective as he would like. He has thrown for 1,385 yards and has four interceptions with just five touchdowns. The lack of scoring is getting to Odell Beckham Jr., who has just one touchdown this year. Defensively, New York is giving up 21.6 points and 364.2 yards per game. The Giants have been decent up front, giving up just 96.6 rushing yards per game. However, the unit needs a strong pass rush, as they have just four sacks in 2016. Jason Pierre-Paul and Olivier Vernon are both questionable to play this week with a groin and wrist injury, respectively. Not having them on the field will only make that aspect weaker for New York.
After a 3-0 start, the Ravens have lost their last two games, falling to the Redskins 16-10 last week at home. Baltimore is now 3-2 on the season 2-3 against the spread. Baltimore has one of the top defensive units in the NFL, as they are giving up just 17.6 points and 280.8 yards per game. The unit has 10 sacks, 17 pass deflections and six interceptions on the year. When it comes to offense, Baltimore is putting up only 18.8 points and 355.4 yards per game this season. The run game is somewhat lacking, but the team is hoping Terrance West can emerge as the clear starting back. He has 327 yards on the year. Joe Flacco has thrown for 1,282 yards and five touchdowns, but also has four interceptions. Flacco could be without one of his top targets this week in Steve Smith Sr., who is doubtful with an ankle injury.
Though the Ravens have a good defense, the offense has really been sputtering. Baltimore has failed to cover the spread in its last three games and now hits the road to face a Giants team with a lot at stake. Baltimore hasn’t performed well after a loss for the most part, going just 2-9-2 ATS in their last 13 after a loss. The Giants have the weapons on offense to beat this team, but they just haven’t been able to put it together consistently on the field. Being back home should help that. The Giants put up 27 points in their last game at home and also beat the Saints at home in Week 2.
