Giants vs. Packers Odds

NFL Week 5 Odds: New York Giants vs. Green Bay Packers 10/9/16

Another busy Sunday of NFL action concludes tonight at 8:30PM ET when the Green Bay Packers host the New York Giants on NBC.

According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Packers are the clear favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -7 points against the Giants. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 48 points. The Giants have won three straight meetings with Green Bay, but the Giants have covered in the last four meetings. These two have hit the under in their last two meetings as well.

Bet on Giants vs. Packers

The Packers are fresh off a bye week and come in at 2-1 on the season, 2-1 against the spread and 2-1 with the over. After a slow start for the offense, Green Bay showed some life in a 34-27 win over the Lions two weeks ago. Aaron Rodgers threw for four touchdowns in the first half and finished with 205 yards and no interceptions. Still, he has just 617 yards passing in three games and the Green Bay ground attack only has 301 yards in three games. The Green Bay defense is somewhat suspect as well, giving up 22.3 points and 373 yards per game. While they have one of the top run defenses (42.7 ypg allowed) they are giving up 330.3 passing yards per game. The defense could be without Clay Matthews again this week as he is nursing an ankle injury.

While Green Bay is coming off a bye, the Giants just played on Monday night, suffering a 24-10 loss at Minnesota to fall to 2-2 on the season and 1-3 against the spread. The Giants have hit the under in three of four games this year due to an offense that is producing just 18.3 points per game. The Giants are moving the ball, as they average 390.3 yards per game, but turnovers have been an issue. Eli Manning has thrown for 1,186 yards and four touchdowns, but also has four interceptions. Stud receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been notably frustrated in recent weeks. He has just 22 catches for 303 yards and no touchdowns so far in 2016. Defensively, the Giants are giving up 21.3 points and 353.8 yards per game. They are giving up 269.8 passing yards per game, which ranks 18th in the NFL. The defense has also forced only one turnover in 2016.
