Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Panthers are 6.5-point favorites to beat the Giants. The total, meanwhile, sits at 43.5 points. As of this writing, 62% of the public betting tickets are on the Ravens to cover the point spread.
New York Giants
Odell Beckham voiced numerous concerns with the offense and the Giants’ “energy” as a whole. “How come we can’t throw the ball for more than 20 yards?,” Beckham wondered aloud. “How come we don’t attempt or try to throw the ball for more than 20 yards? Those are questions that we have to figure out.” Eli Manning’s longest pass play last week in the first half against a miserable Saints defense went for 11 yards, and he missed a wide-open OBJ on a couple occasions. OBJ didn’t stop there. “A lot of it has to do with the energy that we have, that we don’t bring every single day,” he continued. “And you know me, I’m a passionate, energetic person. We just need to play with some heart.” Frustration is mounting and started to boil over on the field a bit last week as OBJ remains without a touchdown and the Giants sitting at 1-3.
Carolina Panthers
Panthers RG Trai Turner (concussion) will play in Week 5 against the Giants. Turner missed two weeks in the concussion protocol. He’ll return coming out of Carolina’s bye. Turner presence is an upgrade for Carolina’s run game.

Prediction
There are live dogs and then there are just underdogs. The Giants fall into the latter category. As noted above, Beckham publicly voiced concerns with New York’s offense, which looked dreadful against a bad New Orleans defense last week – at home, no less. With Panthers getting healthy and fresh off their bye, there’s no reason to back the road dog in this spot, especially considering Carolina is laying less than a touchdown.
NFL Week 5 Prediction: Carolina Panthers -6.5
