Cardinals a mess
The Cardinals are off to a 0-2 start with losses to the Rams and Redskins. They have been outscored by a total of 58-6 in the two games, failing to cover the spread in each game while hitting the under in both. Arizona has not covered in its last three games, including the preaseason.
The Cards have been a mess on offense, averaging just 182.5 yards per game thus far and only 61 rushing yards per game. Sam Bradford has thrown for 247 yards with two interceptions while David Johnson has just 85 rushing yards on 22 carries after missing nearly all of 2017 with an injury. Defensively, Arizona is giving up 440.5 yards per game right now, including over 300 passing yards per game.
Bears strong defensively
The Chicago Bears are coming off a 24-17 win on Monday night at home against Seattle thanks to a persistent defensive pass rush. The Bears are 1-1 on the year, 2-0 against the spread and 1-1 with the over/under thus far. Chicago has covered in four of its last five games.
While giving up 355 yards per game thus far, the Bears have been very disruptive on defense. The trade for Khalil Mack is already proving to be fruitful for Chicago, as he has eight tackles, two sacks, an interception and two forced fumbles. As a unit, the Bears already have 10 sacks and four forced turnovers. Offensively, Chicago is putting up 23.5 points and 298 yards per game. Mitchell Trubisky is playing like a game manager right now, throwing for 371 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also has 56 rushing yards.
NFL Betting Trends
Arizona
The Cardinals have failed to cover the spread in their last six games in September and they are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 against NFC opponents.
Chicago
The Bears are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, but 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games in September.
Prediction:
The Cardinals haven’t been able to move the ball at all and I think those struggles will continue against the Bears and their pass rush. I am concerned about the Bears offense on the road, but I don’t think they will need many points to cover this spread. Chicago’s defense should create some short fields and allow the offense to score enough to cover.
NFL Prediction: Chicago Bears -6
