Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Ravens are 1-point favorites to beat the Colts. The total, meanwhile, sits at 43 points. As of this writing, 58% of the public betting tickets are on the Rams to cover the point spread.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ahtletic’s Jeff Zrebiec considers John Brown the “standout” of Ravens camp. Per Zrebiec, “nobody made more plays than Brown during training camp.” Zrebiec is echoing coach John Harbaugh, who singled Brown out for praise on Wednesday. Brown has proven to be an electrifying playmaker when healthy, but he spent much of the past two years battling complications from his sickle-cell trait. If Brown is beyond that this season, he will be an ideal deep target for big-armed Joe Flacco, and quite possibly the Ravens’ No. 1 receiver.
Indianapolis Colts
According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, the Seahawks offered the Colts a second-round pick for Jacoby Brissett. Obviously, the Colts didn’t feel that was enough to move him. The offense struggled with Brissett under center last year, though clearly Indianapolis still views him as an important insurance policy for Andrew Luck, who is coming off a lengthy recovery from shoulder surgery. The 25-year-old completed 6-of-8 passes for 35 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in last week’s preseason opener against Seattle.
NFL Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Ravens are 3-0-1 against the spread in their last four road games and are 10-4 against the number in their last 14 Monday night games.
Indianapolis
The Colts are 11-5 against the spread in their last 16 games played on Monday.
Prediction
The total jumped from 41.5 up to 43 at most sports books. While only 53% of the betting tickets are on the over, a whopping 83% of the money wagered on this game is on the over as of this writing. That indicates some sharp action in play and if you’re betting this one, the value appears to be in the over.
