Colts vs. Cowboys Preseason Pick
Are the Cowboys laying too many points to the Colts tonight when the two teams meet in NFL preseason action at 7:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Cowboys are 5.5-point home favorites versus the Colts while the over/under sits at 49 points. While the point spread hasn’t moved off the original number, the total hit the board at 39.5 before dropping a half-point to 39.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: The Colts suffered another injury blow this week when ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that center Ryan Kelly will need foot surgery and will miss 6-8 weeks. Kelly was the linchpin of an improving offensive line and now with him out, the Colts could look to add a veteran such as Jeremy Zuttah. In other news, OC Rob Chudzinksi is getting Scott Tolzien ready to play in case Andrew Luck (shoulder) isn’t ready for Week 1. Chudzinski said the team would have to alter its playbook if Tolzien is forced to start.
DALLAS COWBOYS: Second-year linebacker Jaylon Smith (knee) could make his professional debut tonight. He missed the entire 2016 season recovering from a gruesome knee injury suffered in his final year at Notre Dame. Smith could give the Cowboys’ front seven a much-needed boost. Questions remain on defense for Dallas this season.

OUR PREDICTION: Neither of these teams have fared well in preseason play under their current coaches. Jason Garrett is 10-17 in preseason play while Chuck Pagano is 7-14. The difference here is that Tolzien needs to be up to speed for Week 1 in case Luck isn’t ready, while the Cowboys are simply trying to stay healthy. Thus, I think there’s more at stake for the Colts, even in a meaningless preseason game. Indy could be in store for a long season but this feels like too many points to lay in a preseason game.
