Patriots still favorite in Week 1
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – Despite the release of the Wells Report on “DeflateGate,” the Patriots are still listed as a favorite versus the Steelers in Week 1 of the 2015 NFL season.
While places like the MGM Mirage, William Hill and Wynn LV don’t currently have the spread posted for the game, Station Casinos Race & Sports Book list the Patriots as a 6-point home favorite over the Steelers in Week 1. Those teams will clash in the season opener on September 10.
Following the release of the Wells Report, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the NFL is considering discipline for quarterback Tom Brady as a result of “DeflateGate.” The Ted Wells Report indicated that Brady and equipment personnel Jim McNally and John Jastremski conspired to deflate balls before the AFC title game versus the Colts (and before games leading up to that point). The Miami Herald also reports “everything” is being considered as the league mulls its punishment for Brady following this scandal.
If Brady were to be suspended for Week 1, the line in that game could be cut in half. Jimmy Garoppolo would likely draw the start for the Patriots if Brady were forced to miss the game.
