Wildcats vs. Guardians XFL Prediction

L.A. Wildcats vs. New York Guardians, 2/29/20 XFL Week 4 Predictions

The New York Guardians have not given their new XFL fans much to cheer about but they’ll try to get back on track Saturday when they host the L.A. Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. ET. With the Wildcats laying 8 points on the road and the total sitting at 38.5, what’s the best play today?

Game Snapshot

425 Los Angeles Wildcats (-8) at 426 New York Guardians (+8); o/u 38.5

2:00 p.m. ET, Saturday, February 29, 2020

L.A. Wildcats Latest

The Wildcats picked up their first win last week and it was a big one, routing the previously unbeaten Defenders, 39-9. Quarterback Josh Johnson completed 72% of his passes on 18-of-25 passing for 278 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions, while Tre McBride caught five-of-six targets for 109 yards and two scores. The defense held a previously potent D.C. offense to a total of just 290 net yards and 1.9 yards per play.

New York Guardians Latest

It was yet another frustrating week offensively for the Guardians, who mustered only 9 points in a 29-9 loss to the St. Louis Battlehawks in Week 3. Matt McGloin started the game and once again was benched after completing 8-of-11 passes for 73 yards with one interception. Marquise Williams came off the bench to throw for 94 yards on 7-of-15 passing but the offense was bogged down in the red zone and third-stringer Luis Perez eventually came in for Williams.

Game Prediction

It’s been rough watching the Guardians try to move the ball the last two weeks, but this is still too many points to lay with a road team. McGloin (thorax) is out, which should be addition by subtraction. He showed limited ability to move the offense in the first three weeks and at least Williams (assuming he starts) can make plays with his legs if the play breaks down. I doubt we see an offensive explosion out of New York today, but L.A. was struggling offensively until hanging 39 points on D.C. a week ago so it wouldn’t be shocking for the Guardians to return home and look more competent on that side of the ball. Either way, I’ll take the points.
