Manziel impresses Jags, Raiders
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (The Spread) – While most reports around this time of year are smokescreens, one recent note about Johnny Manziel is intriguing.
According to Sports Illustrated, Manziel was reportedly “very impressive” in interviews with the Jaguars and Raiders at the NFL scouting combine over the weekend. Both teams are in need of a franchise quarterback and will be in position to take Manziel in May’s draft. The Jaguars currently own the No. 3 overall pick while the Raiders have the No. 5 selection, although the Rams could be a potential trade partner for any team looking to jump up to No. 2.
“He did a really nice job in there. He was prepared for the interview, very prepared,” Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell said. “We’ve found nothing that’s come across as a fatal flaw to us.”
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Jaguars and Raiders are both 100/1 long shots to win the 2015 Super Bowl, which are the worst odds in the NFL. The Bills are also 100/1 long shots, while the Browns, Vikings, Jets and Titans are all 66/1, respectively.
The 2014 NFL Draft will take place on Thursday, May 8 through Saturday, May 10.
