Thomas has surgery for torn labrum
SEATTLE, WA (The Spread) – Seahawks’ safety Earl Thomas was forced to undergo surgery for a torn labrum but is expected to be ready for Week 1.
Thomas suffered the shoulder injury in the NFC Championship Game but was able to play in the second half against the Packers and didn’t miss a snap versus the Patriots in the Super Bowl. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Thomas will be ready for training camp, although the NFL Network suggests his timetable is around 6-8 months.
Even if he misses training camp, Thomas is expected to be ready to start Week 1 of the 2016 season. The key is whether or not he suffers a setback during the rehab process, although at 25 he’s young enough to have a speedy recovery.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Seahawks are currently 11/2 favorites to win the 2016 Super Bowl after losing to the Patriots in SBXLIX last Sunday. New England, meanwhile, is 6/1 to repeat as NFL champions.
