According to oddsmakers from online sports book YouWager, the Patriots are currently 4.5-point favorites to beat the Eagles. Philadelphia opened as a 6-point underdog but Las Vegas took massive money line bets on the Eagles and the line was bet down steadily the past two weeks. As for the total, the number hit the board at 48 but has been bet up to 48.5 at most books.

Who Public Bettors Favor…

As of Sunday morning, just over 50% of betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks for this game are on the Eagles to cover the spread. That said, 57% of money wagered is on the Patriots. As for the total, 58% of the betting tickets online are on the over.

Which Side Has Been Covering…

Underdogs have won six of the last 10 Super Bowls and have covered the spread in nine of those 10 games. The Patriots did win and cover as a 3-point favorite a year ago, but they had to erase a 28-3 third-quarter deficit in order to accomplish the feat. Overall, there have been five outright upsets by underdogs this NFL postseason, which is one shy of the most in the Super Bowl era.

The underdog has covered the point spread in five of the last six meetings between Philadelphia and New England. The over has also cashed for bettors in four of the last five meetings between these two teams.
