Broncos 5-0 when Blakeman officiates
The NFL has chosen eighth-year official Clete Blakeman as the head referee for Super Bowl 50, which is good news for the Broncos and their backers.
Why is it good news? Because since 2010 when Blakeman became a referee, the Broncos are 5-0 straight up and 4-1 against the spread. As for the Panthers, they’ve played in four games when Blakeman has officiated and went 2-2 both straight up and against the spread.
Blakeman officiated 18 games this season, including the Divisional round playoff matchup between Green Bay and Arizona. In those 18 games, the over went 8-8 while the favorite went 8-7-1.
No handicapper should use these stats alone to make a decision on which side or total to take on Sunday. They’re just supposed to give bettors an idea of how games have been officiated in the past under Blakeman.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Denver is currently a 5.5-point underdog versus Carolina in Super Bowl 50 on Sunday night.
