On Friday, new GM Bob Quinn announced that he will be retaining Caldwell as the team’s head coach.

“After spending a significant amount of time together, it is clear that our football philosophies are very similar,” Quinn told ESPN.com. “Consequently, I am convinced he is the right man to lead our football team moving forward. Jim's entire body of work is impressive. Not only did he lead the Lions to the playoffs his first season here, but when you look at how the players responded the second half of last season, under difficult circumstances, it's clear to me that this team believes in him and responds positively to his leadership.”

According to oddsmakers at RealBets, the Lions are currently listed with 40/1 odds to win Super Bowl LI. They are one of six teams listed with 40/1 odds. The Patriots are the current favorites with 8/1 odds.

The Lions are coming off a 7-9 record in the 2015 season, the second under Caldwell. The Lions are 18-14 in two season under Caldwell, but the franchise has never reached the Super Bowl, let alone win one. Caldwell has reached the Super Bowl one time in his career, losing to the Saints in Super Bowl XLIV as head coach of the Colts.
